📝 Overview

This lesson plan (LP) asks students to consider their talents and passions and addresses one essential question:
  1. How can we take what we love and use that passion to become strong leaders?
 

📚 TESOL Focus

This lesson plan (LP) utilizes Project-Based Learning (PBL) techniques and guides teachers to:
  • guide students to evaluate an authentic model of effective leadership
  • make learning relevant and engaging through real-world connections
  • support students to plan for contributing to their own community

🎯 Goals

As a result of this lesson, students will be able to:
  • understand principles of good leadership more deeply
  • appreciate the value of working as a team
  • talk about what they are good at and what they are passionate about
  • connect their talents (what they are good at) and their interests (what they are passionate about) to making positive changes in the world around them
  • use vocabulary and language structures needed to discuss these topics

As students complete the Access lessons, they will document their research, observations, analyses, and reflections in Inquiry Notebooks.

On Page 6 of this lesson, you will find creative Inquiry Notebook Prompts to guide students' critical thinking and encourage them to reflect on their personal passions, working on teams, and messages of strong leadership through song. Involve students in their learning by letting them choose one inquiry prompt to answer during step 3 of the lesson plan.
